US R&D Collaborations

In a culmination of a decade of discussions within the US Detector Instrumentation community facilitated by CPAD, it has been decided at the 2022 CPAD annual workshop to create a network of US Detector R&D Collaborations.

These Collaborations will be created covering major technology areas in line with the 2019 BRN. The goal is to bring together the community in a more persistent way than the annual CPAD workshops alone, to coordinate R&D efforts and to forge collaboration.

To this end, we have created the following mailing lists. Please sign up to your area of interest. Once we have the mailing lists filled, we will send around surveys to each to gauge everyone’s specific interests with the goal to organize dedicated workshops and create work packages along the PRDs that were identified in the BRN.

  1. To SUBSCRIBE to a mailing list called MYLIST:
  2. Send an e-mail message to [email protected]
  3. Leave the subject line blank
  4. Type “SUBSCRIBE MYLIST FIRSTNAME LASTNAME” (without the quotation marks, and using the string before the @ in the mailing list’s name as MYLIST- as well as your own name) in the body of the e-mail messageFor example “SUBSCRIBE CPAD_RDC1 ALICE SMITH”

2025 RDC Priorities

For  the proposal preparation to Comparative Review NOFO in 2025, CPAD RDCs are taking a mini BRN process. Each RDC articulates the R&D priorities with the associated community, produces a list of handful priorities in a consistent format. Cross-RDC priorities are identified and listed separately. A document combining all RDC priorities will be made available to the community and posted on the arXiV to provide a citable reference.

2024 RDC Collaborative Proposals

For the 2024 Comparative Review, CPAD and the RDC’s aim to put forward a small number of university lead, multi-institutional proposals focused on generic “blue-sky” R&D

To this end, we are open to submission of community lead “White Papers” which outline proposals for such consortia. These white papers will be used to help CPAD coordinate and promote groups intending to submit to the DOE Comparative Review in September 2024
